What we collect

When you use the eligibility checker or sign up for a city checklist, we store only:

• Your email address
• Your city
• Your child's age range
• Your household size
• Your approximate income range (a bracket, not a dollar figure)
• Your activity status (working / in school / receiving DTA / etc.)
• The provider-share consent flag, with timestamp and the version of the consent text you saw

What we never collect

We do not collect, request, or store:

• Social Security numbers
• Tax forms or tax return data
• Official application documents or scans
• Income proof (pay stubs, employer letters, bank statements)
• Any identifier that would be required for the actual voucher application

Those documents go directly to your local CCR&R agency (Square One, Mass211, or your city's equivalent) when you formally apply — never to us.

How the checklist email works

If you ask us to email your city-specific checklist, we send a single message with: your next steps, your local agency contact, the official Mass.gov page, and a list of documents your agency typically requests. Every email includes an opt-out link in the footer. We do not subscribe you to a newsletter or share your address.

When we share your info with daycares

Only if you explicitly check the "share with nearby daycares" box during intake. The box is unchecked by default. If you do opt in, we share only:

• Your name
• Your city
• Your child's age range
• Your email address

We never share your income, SSN, household details, or any documents — not even if you opted in. Sharing is capped at three nearby daycares maximum, and you can opt out anytime by emailing hello@childcarehelpma.org.

How to opt out

Email hello@childcarehelpma.org with a brief note. We'll stop all email and unshare your info from any active provider lists within 7 business days.
